Welcome to the Canby Invitational Tournaments. We hope you will select us and that the experience is a positive one for all yours players, coaches and families.
Each team will play two games on Saturday and at least one game on Sunday. Occasionally Friday games will be scheduled with individual teams.
All tournaments are limited to 8-12 teams and have a three (3) game minimum with awards for 1st through 4th place. Cost is $325/team for Midget Levels; $350/team for Junior and Senior Levels. Cost includes $50 non-refundable deposit to cover non-recoverable costs; remainder will be refunded if tournament is cancelled. Tournament spots are filled on a first-come first-served basis and upon receipt of your check, made payable to Canby Junior Baseball. If you have accepted an invitation and decide not to attend, please contact the tournament coordinator as soon as possible. Refunds for cancellations will be given only if a replacement team is obtained. Every attempt will be made to complete the tournament. Rain conditions will be determined by the tournament coordinator, or his designee, prior to the start of games, and by the umpire once the games have started.
We have a batting cage at Knight B. You are welcome to use this cage, but please work with all of the coaches to ensure that all teams that want to use it are given equal consideration. For more information contact the Tournament Coordinator: Steve Turrentine at team.thunder@hotmail.com.
You can find tournament information online at www.canbyjuniorbaseball.com, on the Tournament Page. Once the tournament is full, bracket information will be posted on this website.
Thanks for choosing Canby Junior Baseball as your invitational tournament of choice.
Rules:
All Junior Baseball Rules are in effect except where noted.
1. Pitching rules are the same as per Junior Baseball Tournament rules:
Midget Division: A youth must not pitch more than six (6) total innings per consecutive games. In addition, a National level youth is limited to three (3) innings per game.
Example: National Level 3-3-3 American & Federal 4-2-4, 5-1-5
Junior Division: A youth must not pitch more than seven (7) total innings per consecutive games. In addition, a National level youth is limited to four (4) innings per game.
Example: National 4-3-4 American & Federal 5-2-5, 6-1-6
Senior Division: A youth must not pitch more than eight (8) total innings per consecutive games. In addition, a National level youth is limited to four (4) innings per game.
Example: National 4-4-4 American & Federal 5-3-5, 6-2-6, 7-1-7
Note: One pitch constitutes an inning.
2. Junior Baseball Organization, Inc. has adopted the ten (10) run rule for all leagues, with the exception of the Tournament Championship game. The ten (10) run rule provides that a game will end after five (5) innings for Seniors, four (4) innings for Juniors and Midgets, or any inning thereafter, when a team is ten or more runs behind and has completed its turn at bat. Games called as a result of this rule DOES NOT waive the six (6) defensive out rule.
3. There shall be free defensive substitutions, including pitchers. Each player must play a minimum of six (6) defensive outs. If a player arrives late and is unable to complete his/her defensive outs, they must be inserted immediately and play until the game is completed or they have played their required six (6) defensive outs, should the game go into extra innings.
4. There will be a five (5) run rule per inning with the final inning open at the Midget National, Midget American, Midget Federal, Junior National and Senior National levels. The final inning is five (5) innings for Midgets, six (6) innings for Juniors and seven (7) innings for Seniors. (For ties, see rule 6.).
5. No new inning will start after two hours playing time, with the exception of the Championship game. There is a 2 (two) hour 10 minute drop dead time, in order to keep the tournament running on time (except Championship Game).
6. In case of a tie, an extra inning may be played if time limit is not exceeded. If time limit is exceeded, game score will revert back to the last complete inning where one team led. Championship Game will play extra inning(s) to determine a winner. In case of 3rd/4th place games, Tournament Director will determine if extra innings are an option (taking into consideration whether there are other teams waiting to play on the field, if time allows, schedule, etc.). The decision of the Director is final.
7. Each team will bat its entire roster.
8. Home/Visiting team will be determined by coin-flip prior to the start of the game. This can be done at any time.
9. For Midget National skill level, a runner may not steal home and may only advance as a result of a hit ball or walk, but not a penalty. A base runner will be called out if he reaches home plate except as specified above.
10. For Midget National and American skill levels, a batter is out regardless of whether or not the third strike is caught or not.
11. Midget National skill level, the defensive team may play 10 players in the field by playing 4 in the outfield.
12. Special Pool Play Rules (only in effect during pool games):
A) No new inning will start after one hour and 30 minutes playing time
B) Ties in the pool for determining seeding in the bracket will be determined by the following criteria: (1) Head to Head; (2) Least runs allowed; (3) Most runs scored.
13. Final decisions will be determined by the Tournament Coordinator, or his appointee, without argument.
