Team Setup

Canby Junior Baseball offers playing opportunities to boys and girls ages 5-14.  The divisions are broken down as follows:

T-Ball………..……………5-6 yr. olds

Coach Pitch…………..…7-8 yr. olds

Midget......................…..9-10 yr. olds

Junior…………………….11-12 yr. olds

Senior…………………….13-14 yr. olds

Ages as of August 1, 2010

T-Ball and Town League play is all done in Canby.

• T-Ball League:   Players do not try out, these teams are divided as evenly as possible by a small group of coaches.
• Coach Pitch:  Players do not try out, these teams are divided as evenly as possible by a small group of coaches.
• Midget/Town League:   teams are formed from the 8-9-10 yr. old group, and these teams travel to nearby towns for league games in addition to games held in Canby. 

Junior and Senior ball players are divided into three skill levels.

• National teams are comprised of beginning level players
• American team members are at an intermediate level
• Federal teams are formed from the more experienced players

Tryouts are held in the month following sign ups. At tryouts, players are divided into groups and run through a variety of drills to show their abilities in the areas of hitting, running, and catching. This gives the coaches an opportunity to assess each player's skill level. Teams are then formed by the coaches attending the tryouts.
